Dr. Brian Pokorski is a Buffalo chiropractor who serves Buffalo and the surrounding communities in Western NY.
The more people who get well, the more inspired I become!
“14 years ago something happened that changed my life forever… I was in a car accident,” reveals Dr. Brian Pokorski. This was no tiny fender-bender. It was bad. I crawled out of my car through a shattered window. The gas tank was split in two and the springs were thrown almost 100 yards away from my car. When I got out, it hurt to walk and my head was pounding with pain. As I was being taken to the hospital my neck hurt more with every bump the ambulance hit.
Then I was sent to physical therapy. The pain in my neck was worse; now it was sharp and stabbing. I couldn’t even turn my head to the left anymore. I was 20 years old. What was I supposed to do for the rest of my life? I was told I would have to live with it. I was starting to doubt if my body would ever be the same again.
Chiropractor in Buffalo Tells About His First Chiropractic Experience
It was Thanksgiving, and my Aunt convinced me to give her chiropractor a try. The doctor did an exam and then “adjusted” my spine. The adjustment didn’t hurt, it actually felt good. I got relief, and I could turn my head again. In fact, it worked so well I went to Chiropractic College myself!
I began my pre-chiropractic education at Buffalo State College where I studied the basic sciences such as inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, along with basic physiology and anatomy courses.
After completing my study there, I was accepted at New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls, New York. During my four years at NYCC, courses included biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, X-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques, and patient care in a local health center. In addition to my rigorous studies at NYCC, I spent countless weekends expanding my experience and education by attending seminars and training workshops internationally.
I wholeheartedly believe, “The additional workshops and seminars are what inspired me to make the transition from doctor to healer.” After graduating in 2000, I established his practice in Western New York.
I am certified in multiple chiropractic techniques and have been invited to speak at various seminars and conferences locally and abroad. I am an award winning essay writer of “Staying on Purpose” and was recently recognized in Business First’s Who’s Who in Chiropractic Care.
Dr. Pokorski’s Chiropractic Goal
My main goal is to create a community of people who desire to exceed life’s expectations with optimum function of the body as the key to health and well-being.
- There are four foundational principles that I view as essential to getting the most out of your chiropractic experience. They are:
- The body is a self-healing mechanism. Cut your finger; it heals. Cut the finger of a corpse; it does not. Life heals.
- The nervous system is the master system of the body. Every aspect of the human experience is processed through the nervous system.
- When there is interference with the function of the nervous system, not only can it compromise your physical well-being, but it also can have psycho-emotional consequences because it distorts your perception of the world and limits your ability to respond to the environment. When this happens to a significant number of people in a society, you have a sick society.
- As your chiropractor I will locate and correct the cause of that interference.
The people who respond best to care are those who ask questions, are open-minded, and will take action in an effort to achieve their health goals.
Dr. Pokorski Up Close and Personal
I am married to Alanna and we have two children, Andrew and Kaitlyn. Both children received their first adjustment moments after being born, have never been vaccinated, and have never needed an antibiotic. (If that sounds interesting be sure to ask Dr. Pokorski to explain!)
I choose to set an example for my patients by receiving regular chiropractic care, taking nutritional supplements, eating a healthy diet including organic fruits and vegetables, and incorporate various bio and neuro-feedback practices into my lifestyle.
